How to Know Christ Personally

Every individual has the distinct opportunity of having a personal relationship with the Lord of all Creation. However, every person has sin in their lives. God hates sin and cannot accept us with this sin in our lives. Therefore, we each need some way of removing the sin from our lives so that we can have a relationship with God. God graciously provided a way for this to take place. He sent His son, Jesus, born of a virgin, to die on the cross for our sin. Because Jesus was perfect, His death served as a payment for our sins. This payment from Jesus is free to each of us, however, we must accept it. To do this, we must come to the realization that we are sinners and separated from God. We must then turn from these sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This means that He is now in control of our lives. Once this takes place, we are counted as children of God and have an eternal home in Heaven.

The process of accepting Christ is very simple. Christ offered a free gift to us and all we have to do is accept it. Below are the simple steps to salvation that can be followed.

1.  Realize that all people are sinners. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God." Romans 3:23

2.  Realize that the result of sin is separation from God. "The wages of Sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus." Romans 6:23

3.  Understand that no one can earn salvation, it is a gift of God. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9

4.   God made salvation possible for us through the death of Jesus. "But God demonstrated his love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

5.  If we ask for forgiveness and accept Christ as Lord, we will be saved. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

6.  If it is your desire to receive Christ in your life you can pray now to accept Him. Below is a prayer that can serve as a guide as you pray to accept Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner and separated from you. I ask forgiveness for these sins and I turn away from them. Come into my life and save me. I make you Lord of all my life from this day forward. Thank you for saving me, Amen."
